The interventions, which were concentrated in the provinces of Genoa, Parma and Alexandria, saw the men and women of the army, engaged in operations of clearing debris, restoration of the roads, movement of flooded vehicles, excavation and emptying of rooms and underground pipelines .
The Italian army, increasingly characterized by the ability to "dual-use" intervention, ie excellence both in the operational sphere but also in interventions to support the population in the field of security and civil protection, has deployed highly specialized units such as the units of the genius.
These departments, thanks to the high level of preparation of their men and the technical and tactical means available, have been able to carry out significant and in some cases very complex interventions, including not least, for example, the cleaning of the riverbed del Rio Predazzo, one of the areas most battered by recent rainfall in the province of Alessandria, ensuring the restoration of the normal flow of the river.
