183 anniversary of the Health Corps

The Chief of Staff of the Army, Army Corps General Danilo Errico, was present today in Rome at the commemoration ceremony for the 183 anniversary of the Army Health Corps, established by Royal Decree in 1833.

At the ceremony, held in the Aula Magna of the Army Transportation and Materials School in Rome - Cecchignola, in the presence of the war flag of the Health Corps of the Army and the banner of the city of Roma Capitale, the army logistic commander, army corps general Adriano Vieceli, the health and veterinary commander, intervened Army, Major General Mario Alberto Germani, as well as numerous high military, civil and religious authorities.

After the honors were given to the Chief of Staff of the Army, the event began with the screening of a short film on the evolution of the military health service from its constitution to the present day, highlighting the fundamental contribution of military health to the modern peace support operations.

The ceremony continued with the brief introduction of the health and veterinary commander followed by the conference entitled "Synergies between Military Health and Civil Health" which saw, as authoritative speakers, prof. Eugenio Gaudio, magnificent rector of the "Sapienza" University of Rome, Dr. Kyriakoula Petropulacos, Director General for Health and Social Policies of the Emilia Romagna Region, Dr. Ilde Coiro, Director General of the San Giovanni Addolorata Hospital of Rome and the dott. Gian Luigi Taverna of the Humanitas IRCCS clinical institute in Rozzano (MI).

The Army Chief of Staff emphasized in its speech that: - military health is a precious resource that continues to guarantee its assistance and health care to military and civilians in all foreign operating theaters and on the national territory - and then, he continued - health is a crucial skill in the hands of commanders in the conduct of military operations, especially on the occasion of calamitous events or other emergencies - and finally recalled - the important institutional collaborations of the Army with the Universities that allow for create stable synergies with health and scientific realities, of national importance, for the training of doctors and nurses and the care of citizens.

The ceremony ended with the delivery of graduate degrees to 12 medical officers and graduate degrees in nursing to 2 marshals nurses.
