A Falcon 50 saves 3 life threatening children

In the late evening of Tuesday, the Situation Room of the Aeronautical General Staff Summit, alerted by the prefecture of Reggio Calabria, ordered the execution of an emergency medical transport to the 31 ° Stormo operation room for a woman of 37 years in an advanced state of pregnancy to whose fetus had been diagnosed malformations that required immediate intervention after the birth of the child.

A 50 Falcon of the 31 ° Stormo immediately took off for the capital of Calabria to pick up the woman and transport her to Genoa for the subsequent hospitalization at the Gaslini hospital. The mission ended at 03: 25 in the morning with the return of the aircraft to Ciampino.

A few hours later, at the request of the Cagliari prefecture, the Falcon 50 again took off for the Sardinian city for emergency transport in favor of an 4 child who had been diagnosed with a severe pulmonary arteriovenous malformation. Transported to Ciampino, the child was transferred, together with his mother, to the Bambino Gesù hospital in Rome by an ambulance waiting for him at the landing.

In the morning of today, the Summit Situation Room was again alerted to an urgent intervention in favor of a Sardinian girl of only 3 years admitted to the pediatric ward of the hospital of Sassari and suffering from a serious congenital metabolic pathology. patient needed an immediate transfer to the Gaslini hospital in Genoa in order to be subjected to urgent specialized care. The Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31 ° flock then left for Alghero to pick up the child who, accompanied by her mother, a doctor and by a nurse, she was transported to Genoa, where an ambulance was ready to welcome her. The aircraft returned to Ciampino at 13: 30.

The aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino are used for the transport of state and for missions of public utility, such as emergency medical transport of patients, serious traumatized and transplant organs, as well as for interventions in favor of people however in risk situations. This last activity, given the imminent danger of life of the people transported, imposes a level of readiness, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
