Whirlwind in Pantelleria, Aeronautica Militare helicopter transports a team of firefighters into the night

In the middle of the night, a crew of the 82nd CSAR (Combat Search And Rescue) center in Trapani intervened to transport a team of firefighters to Pantelleria to be able to rescue the population hit yesterday afternoon by a sudden and violent trumpet of 'air.

The crew, in readiness of alarm with the HH-139B helicopter, received, following the request of the prefecture of Trapani, the mission order from the operations room of the Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) of the Aerospace Operations Command of Poggio Renatico (FE) and in just 30 minutes he helicopter transported a team of 6 firefighters to Pantelleria, to help rescue the population of the island.

The fire brigade team consisted of 3 fighters from the SAF (speleo-alpine-river) core, 2 fighters from the USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) project and 1 fighter specialized in searching for missing persons.

The 82nd center is one of the departments of the 15th Wing of the Air Force which guarantees, 24 hours a day, 24 days a year, without interruption, the search and rescue of flight crews in difficulty, competing, moreover, to activities of public utility such as the search for missing persons at sea or in the mountains, the emergency medical transport of patients in danger of life and the rescue of seriously traumatized patients, also operating in marginal weather conditions. Since its inception, the crews of the 365th flock have saved more than 15 life-threatening people. Since 7500 the department has acquired the AIB (Forest Fire Protection) capacity, contributing to the prevention and fight against fires in Sicily.
