A sober ceremony and the classic group photo sanctioned, on October 26th, the end of the 19th course for Volunteers in Fixed Stops (VFP 1), called “Zeus”, for the attribution of the Terrestrial Defense (DT) specialty.
A group of instructors from the STO / FP training group of the 16 ° Stormo conducted the theoretical phase of the training course aimed at providing training for three weeks starting from the 6 October, at the volunteer military aeronautical troop school (SVTAM) of Taranto. specific professional in force protection (protection of forces).
The students followed theoretical lessons in terrestrial combat training (ACT), individual armament, international humanitarian law, topography, chemical-bacteriological-radiological-nuclear (CBRN) defense.
The theoretical lessons were then followed by practical activities of shooting in real fire in the polygon, training for boarding and landing by tactical means supplied to the AM, establishment of check-points, defense of objectives, personal defense, etc.
The 27 October began a five-day training session divided into two modules, an initial theoretical and informative one for the flight crew from the normal Ibis and Leone V courses of the aeronautical academy who attended the 2 Lead In course to Fighter Training 2014 (LIFT).
The complex training activities, included in the "War Path 03-2014", will be conducted, as regards the organizational-practical aspect, by the staff of the local training group STO / FP of the 16 ° Stormo and by the staff of the "Intelligence" section. Pilots in training will also be given, by the aero-rescuer personnel of the 84 Group Search And Rescue (SAR - search and rescue) of Gioia del Colle (BA), notions of survival techniques.
During the course, the personal instructor of the STO / FP training group will assess the ability of pilots to survive in hostile areas using the material provided in the "flight kit" and survival techniques aimed at the construction of makeshift shelters.
Participation in the "War Path 3-2014" personnel recovery exercise will allow us to measure the effectiveness of authentication techniques and procedures, carried out by the flight crew, to allow their recovery in hostile territory, survival in search and rescue operations in a hostile "Combat-SAR" environment, as well as camouflage, tactical movement and orientation in non-permissive territory.
