During the same sortie a health team was transferred on board and, because of the large number of people on board, water and food were transported to the rescued migrants.
The helicopter, taken off at the 14: 50 from the Malta International Airport, reached the ship after about an hour of flight, quickly disembarking the comfort items through the winch.
Subsequently, the health team was "winched" and, once on board, ascertained the need for hospitalization of the migrant with diabetes. Despite the diagnosis of the Maltese military doctor, the migrant refused to be taken to Malta for hospitalization, remaining on board the rescue ship.
The aircraft, after recovering the medical team, headed for the return to the Maltese Air Wing, where it landed at 17:30.
The SAR (Search and Rescue) section of the Italian Collaboration Mission in the Defense Field operates on HH212 helicopters, with Italian Air Force personnel and mixed Italian-Maltese crews, collaborating with the Maltese government in the search and rescue service, guaranteeing a 24h readiness even in the most difficult weather conditions.
