Historical Museum, Vigna di Valle: new guide for the Military Air Force Museum

On Friday 27 August 2021, in Vigna di Valle, the handover took place between the outgoing director of the Air Force Historical Museum, Lieutenant Colonel Adelio Roviti, and the incoming director, Lieutenant Colonel Marcello Majorani.

The sober event took place in the evocative setting of one of the hangars of the Historical Museum of the Air Force, in the presence of civil and military authorities and the airport commander, Colonel Rosario D'Auria.

In his farewell speech, Lieutenant Colonel Roviti, after five years at the helm of the Museum, underlined: "They were intense years, of important collaborations but also of uncertainties, tensions, worries. And then the pandemic. But despite everything, we never stopped. New aircraft and relics arrived at the Museum, we made the visitor's stay more comfortable. , we have started collaborative projects with important national universities and museums and kept the dialogue with local administrations alive. We have consolidated important collaborations in many activities, especially in restoration, in particular with friends of the Amici Aircraft Storici Group (GAVS). gratitude goes to the museum guides of the Arma Aeronautica Association who, with passion, professionalism and true spirit of service, always receive applause and admiration from visitors. I also wish to give voice and credit to my team, to those who have worked silently and diligently with me. with humility and dedication, acting as a soldier, as an enthusiast, as a citizen to give support to the Historical Museum, a resource for the Armed Force and for the whole territory ".

Lieutenant Colonel Majorani thanked the superior authorities for the assignment of the prestigious position and his predecessor for the level of excellence to which he brought the museum under his leadership, committing himself to maintain and progress in the results achieved. Addressing the museum staff he then continued: "... an intense period full of challenges awaits us, due to the approaching Centenary of the establishment of the Air Force in 2023, during which the Museum will be involved in the front line. The challenges should not scare us but they must be a springboard for launch to affirm our skills ".

Finally, the commander, Colonel Rosario D'Auria thanked Lieutenant Colonel Roviti for the work done and for his professionalism and, wishing good work to Lieutenant Colonel Majorani, concluded: "... museums are magical places where time is told through the objects on display, which allow us to reflect on ourselves and on how we got to date. This is why our museum is also a place in which to treasure what we have learned, and it is a heritage for the future, that we have a duty to preserve and jealously guard at all costs. "

The Military Air Force Historical Museum, located on the shores of Lake Bracciano between the towns of Bracciano and Anguillara Sabazia and inaugurated in 1977, has the task of collecting, restoring, conserving, exhibiting and enhancing aeronautical material of historical and documentary interest. Through multiple internal and external activities, it is also a driving force of history and aeronautical culture from a scientific, educational and popular point of view. The average annual turnout is around 50.000 visitors. Its position in an uncontaminated natural environment and the charm of its structures make it an ideal location for organizing events and filming.

The Museum can be visited every day, with the exception of weekdays, January 1st, Easter and December 25th. Admission is free and open all day from 10:00 to 16:00 (last admission 15:00).
