"Acquired skills for what you are expecting, question yourself, be curious, thirsty for knowledge, because it is your future, the future of our nation". So Colonel Icardi, wanted to exhort the students, on the occasion of his introductory speech, given during the ceremony for the delivery of the Spadinis to the first course of the military aeronautical school "Giulio Douhet" of Florence.

The ceremony, which took place in the aula magna of the institute last November 21, saw the participation of civil and military authorities of the city of Florence in the presence of the relatives of the school's students.

The aerial team general Franco Girardi, commander of the air force schools and 3 ^ air region, presided over the ceremony of delivering the "spadino" to the students of the 1 course in his speech, he focused on the meaning of the training choice of the students, which represents a choice: "healthy, strong and courageous that led them to be part of our aeronautical family".

The ceremony continued with the awarding of prizes and scholarships to students who, in the 2013 / 2014 school year, stood out for particular scholastic, military and sporting merits.

The bags were donated by the Milan Air Force Association, by Mrs. Miranda Giannetti, widow "Giancarlo Boncompagni", by the National Association of Aeronautical Pioneers, by the Consular Corps of Florence, by Countess Mariafede Caproni, by the noble Rotundo family, by the ex-students and supporters association of the Douhet School, by Gian Mario Setti Carraio in honor of the brothers "Giovanni and Albano Carraro", by the lady Doretta Boretti, president of the foundation "Elisabetta and Mariachiara Casini Onlus" and by the mentoring association of the schools military.

The delivery of the sword to the students of the first course - on which the Constellation of the Ursa Minor is engraved, the Elica and the Eagle, symbols of the military aeronautics - represented the culmination of the ceremony. The act of entrusting the spadino is for the students the commitment to preserve, internalize and transmit the aeronautical traditions to the future generations that intend to undertake the same stimulating path, but "full of challenges and satisfactions".

The students of the Iris course have subsequently delivered to the students of the first course, "the quill pen and the compass", symbols of the respective study programs, classical and scientific, together with the "book" on which the message of good wishes was reported to first year of studies.
