Inauguration of a plaque in memory of the s.ten Pilot John Pomodoro

Yesterday in Corso Dante Terlizzi the commemoration ceremony of the Terlizzan pilot Giovanni Pomodoro, decorated with the silver medal for military valor, took place and the 9 February of the 1942 disappeared in a military action on Alexandria in Egypt.

Giovanni Pomodoro enlisted as an official student in Benevento at the Regia Aeronautica and in 1938 was appointed second lieutenant. Destined for the 41st Wing in 1940, it will participate in war operations in 1942.

The ceremony was also attended by several local and regional combat associations along with the presence of the pilot's daughter, Dr. Livia Pomodoro, president of the Milan court, Mayor Ninni Gemmato, the councilor for culture, lawyer. Maria Cagnetta, and the president of the Arma Aeronautica association, major. Michele De Chirico, with Brigadier General Giuseppe Genghi.

The school children of the city gave a warm welcome by singing, after the blessing and deposition of a laurel wreath, the Italian Anthem.
