On Tuesday 5 July, in the presence of the local civil and military authorities, they landed on the airport runway "E. Comani ”, site of the 70 ° Stormo, three new T-2006A aircraft (military version of the P-2006T), coming from the Italian firm TECNAM, based in Capua (CE).
The acquisition of the new aircraft at the 70 ° Stormo of Latina will allow the Italian Air Force to rationalize the training of pilots to obtain the military pilot's license (BPM) and for multi-engine lines, both nationally and abroad . In terms of cost / effectiveness, maintaining high quality standards, the aircraft allows low consumption and management costs, and will work alongside the Piaggio weapon system P.180 already used by Multi Crew Crew Training Center of Pratica di Mare (RM).
The 70 ° Stormo, like the other flight schools of the Italian Air Force, has undergone, in the last two years, a marked process of growth and modernization and provides a training offer of absolute quality and competence, such as to represent a point of reference in military flight training, in the international context. Already some foreign partners, including Holland and Kuwait, have been impressed by the potential of the flight school and by the modern educational programs offered, and have identified the "Comani" among the various international competitors for the training of their pilots. This constitutes an undoubted advantage for the “country system”.
To date, the Latin Flight School has released over 12.000 piloting patents, collecting a total of approximately 500.000 flight hours, made on the following aircraft: Douglas C-47 Dakota, Beechcraft C45, Piaggio P.166M, Piaggio P.148 , SIAI Marchetti SF260AM, Cessna L.19, Dornier 228, Piaggio P.68, Piaggio P.166 DL3, Alenia Aermacchi SF260EA, Alenia Aermacchi S.208 and Piaggio P.166 DP1.
At the Stormo, in the first half of the 2016, ten pilots from the Kuwait Air Force, eight from the Italian Army and two from the Royal Netherland Air Force were patented. During the year, other foreign visitors will come, the course candidates Uranus V, of the first year of the Aeronautical Academy for the achievement of the pilot's license of airplane and other cadets of Pozzuoli for the training preparatory to the attainment of the military pilot's license, for a total of over two hundred visitors during the 2016.
The Tecnam T-2006A is a four-seater with retractable landing gear, powered by two Rotax engines of about 100 horsepower, capable of low consumption and high autonomy (1.315 km, equal to seven hours of flight, with 30 minutes of reserve). It has a cruising speed of around 270 kilometers per hour.
Several new 70 ° Stormo pilots have already been qualified on the new plane and the course for five course officers will start in the next few days Kite 5 ° dell'Accademia Aeronautica, already flocked to the Flight School.
