On Wednesday 21 September the handover ceremony took place in Pisa under the command of the 98 ° Flight Group of the 46ª air brigade.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the commander of the 46ª air brigade, Air Brigadier General Achille Cazzaniga, and the commander of the flight department, Colonel Fabrizio Borgonovi.
The outgoing commander turned to the staff of the 98 ° thanking him for the dedication and great commitment shown in every circumstance: "I leave the Group with a lot of emotion, - his words - I will miss you and I will miss the daily life of the Group I had the honor of leading in these years ".
The incoming commander, for his part, thanked his superiors for the prestigious task entrusted to him, ensuring the utmost commitment to lead the Group towards future goals. Colonel Borgonovi thanked the outgoing commander for the brilliant results achieved and wished the commanding officer a satisfying period of command
The ceremony ended with the intervention of General Cazzaniga who wished the incoming commander a good job and had words of appreciation for the outgoing commander both for the human and professional skills shown: "you were a very good commander - he said - but above all a great man. At any moment, I have always had the perception that the 98th responds present. And even at this precise moment, the commitment of the Group's C27Js is relevant and precious for the brigade and for the country, with the commitment in different theaters of operations. I want to emphasize that I appreciated your leadership qualities, that you will continue to express with the same effectiveness and the same power also in your new position. "
At the end of the ceremony, the traditional passage of the 98 ° Group flag from the hands of the outgoing commander to those of the successor, as a sign of the passing of the baton to the leader of the "Wolves" of the 98 °.
