Gioia del Colle, the Lithuanian ambassador visits the 36th flock

The Lithuanian ambassador to Italy visited one of the departments of the F2000 Community, daily responsible for ensuring the National Airspace Surveillance Service as primary task of the Air Force.

The ambassador, welcomed by the commander of the 36th wing, Colonel Antonio Vergallo, also had the opportunity to meet the representatives of the other departments of the F2000 "Community" (4th, 37th and 51st Wing) who went on the Gioiese airport grounds to carry out a joint exercise activity.

During the meeting, the diplomatic authority underlined the brilliant contribution offered by the Air Force to Lithuania when it ensured the safety of the "Baltic skies" during the "Air Policing" operation carried out in 2015. On that occasion, it highlighted the he diplomatic authority, the personnel of the Arma Azzurra were highly performing and competent both on a professional and diplomatic level of relations with local institutions.

This operation, added if ŠLEPAVIČIUS, was carried out to ensure the safety of the skies in the Baltic area, but also to make diplomatic relations between the two countries cooperating within NATO more and more effective and synergistic.     

General Dress, who intervened to thank the ambassador both on behalf of the Air Force and the "Community F2000", underlined how this type of operations, carried out in specific geographical areas of Europe, are extremely useful for the crews at in order to increase their operational capabilities, as well as to refine their tactical and strategic knowledge relating to territories in operational contexts other than the motherland.
