The need for immediate transport with a military carrier, due to a worsening of the patient's clinical picture, was reported by the Prefecture of Sassari to the Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, which immediately ordered the transport.
To load the patient it was necessary to use the ambulift, a machine that allows patients to be boarded on aircraft, made available by the management company of the Alghero airport So.Ge.A.Al.
The aircraft arrived in Alghero at 10.20 and, after embarking the patient accompanied by the medical team and his wife, left at 11.05 for Linate airport, where an ambulance subsequently transferred the patient to the Niguarda hospital .
The aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo are used daily for public utility missions, such as the emergency medical transport of the sick, seriously injured and organs for transplants, as well as for interventions in favor of people in situations of risk.
This last activity, given the imminent danger of life of the transported people, imposes a level of readiness, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
