Thanks to the agreement between the Ministry of Defense and the Municipality of Desenzano del Garda, a portion of the former airfield of the Air Force will soon be accessible, as further access to the lake and as a park for public use for the benefit of the civil community.
This important result stems from the collaboration gained in this last year between the Desenzano municipal administration, the Air Force and the “Task Force for the disposal and enhancement of military properties” desired by the Minister of Defense, Roberta Pinotti.
The "Task Force for the enhancement and disposal of non-residential defense properties", or the specific and dedicated working group recently established, in collaboration with the State Property Agency and various local administrations, including Rome, Florence, Turin, Naples and Milan with which specific agreements have been signed, is managing the process of enhancing the 1500 properties, in order to obtain additional resources for the public budget and re-functionalise infrastructures no longer useful for military needs.
In this regard, Undersecretary Alfano stressed that "enhancing places with a strong tourist attraction and useful for the community, but above all no longer strategic for Defense, is one of the main objectives that the Ministry is addressing in the general perspective of rationalization and enhancement of the real estate assets ".
