Two medical flights in one day for two Sicilian girls

(To air Force)
26/08/16

An Air Force Falcon 50 transported today two Sicilian girls in serious health conditions and in need of medical transport.

The first, a five-year-old girl in imminent danger of life, was transferred urgently from Catania, where she was admitted to the Hospital Hospital Vittorio Emanuele, at the Gaslini in Genoa. Arrived on the Ligurian airport, the aircraft waited for the arrival of another child, just five months old, who needed instead to return to Catania after a period of specialized care always at the Gaslini hospital.

The double medical transport mission ended in the early afternoon, with the return of Ciampino's 31 ° Stormo to the stationary base, where the crew resumed the H24 shift of readiness for employment. The coordination with the interested prefectures, Catania in the first case and Genoa in the second, and with the presidency of the Council of Ministers, were carried out by the Summit Situation Room of the Italian Air Force.

Missions of this type require maximum timeliness and the Air Force, through its flight departments, provides vehicles and crews ready to take off 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, without interruption and able to operate in any weather condition. The special ability of the Air Force's vehicles to take on teams and specific medical and health equipment, such as for example thermal cradles or even ambulances, as in the case of the aircraft of the 46 air brigade of Pisa, also allows patients and doctors to promptly reach the health facilities most suited to their needs by traveling in complete safety.
