The sword, a symbol of belonging to a military training school, is handed over to the first-year students by third-class students; this gesture represents an important handover, traditions and values that are handed down from generation to generation among the visitors of the Aeronautical Academy. To seal the event, the presence of the commander of the Aeronautical Academy, general of the air squad Fernando Giancotti, as well as godfather of the Sparviero III course and of the deputy commander of the Air Force Schools, general of air division Vitantonio Cormio.
During the ceremony, the commander of the 70 ° Stormo di Latina, Colonel Gianluca Gaetano Piccolomini and his staff delivered the Airplane Pilot Eagles to the 1st class students and to the 2nd class foreign students who finished successfully the training process.
Subsequently two more deserving students were awarded with the scholarship "Professor Valentino Losito", entitled to the memory of the illustrious teacher.
Following, the delivery of the "City of Pozzuoli - Aquila d'Oro" award, established by the Municipality of Pozzuoli, the awards of the foreign air forces, the merit badges and the sporting merit badges to the second lieutenants, the aspiring students and the students who they stood out for their commitment, discipline and results. This year the study prize was also awarded to those assisted by the National Opera for the Children of Aviators (ONFA).
In his speech, General Giancotti invited young students to strive for excellence, reminding them that "excellence is humble but never satisfied". He added: "understand and appreciate the good that is there, improve it and pass it on to future generations. Today, in here, the future is all of you and, I am convinced, it is a beautiful future for the Air Force and for the country ".
In the evening, in addition, the "Pingue" festival, a ceremony of the academic tradition that marks the welcome with which the senior course, this year the Rostro IV course, welcomed the "Pingui" in the academic life. Present the godfather of the course Rostro II, general of aerial team Gabriele Salvestroni, logistic commander of the Air Force.
