Changeover ceremony in command of the 4th brigade of Borgo Piave

On Thursday 29 February, the changeover ceremony in command of the 4th Telecommunications and Air Defense and Flight Assistance Systems Brigade took place in Borgo Piave (LT) between Brigadier General Sandro Sanasi, outgoing commander, and the general of Pietro Spagnoli brigade, incoming commander.

The event, chaired by the logistics commander of the Air Force, air team general Antonio Conserva, took place in the presence of the prefect of Latina Dr. Maurizio Falco, the police commissioner Dr. Raffaele Gargiulo and the military, civil and religious authorities of the area.

To give greater prestige and solemnity to the ceremony, the Medalist of the Blue Ribbon and the Banners of the Combatant and Weapons Associations, the Banner of the Province of Latina and the Banner of the city of Latina took part. 

The passage of the Institute Flag of the Brigade, delivered by the general, was exciting. Sanasi to the general. Spagnoli, who now has the task of guarding it in his office, as already done by his predecessor.

The general Sanasi, in his farewell speech, addressing the brigade personnel said: “Just over four years ago I took on the role of commander of the 4th TLC and DA/AV Systems brigade, approaching this new responsibility with emotion and respect, but strengthened by the honor and appreciation that the SS.AA. they were recognizing me. These have been 48 months of energetic commitment and intense work, but full of satisfying satisfactions and gratifications." Then referring to the brigade and its dependent bodies spread throughout the national territory, he concluded as follows: “It was fortunate to be at the helm of a team worthy of the highest regard from all points of view”. The general Sanasi, after greeting and thanking the general. sa Antonio Conserva, the general. brig. Vincenzo Falzarano, commander of the 3rd division and former commander of the 4th brigade, and having wished an affectionate "good luck" to the general. Spagnoli then concluded his speech by thanking his family with great emotion: “Without you I would never have succeeded in this task. Thank you".

In his inauguration speech, General Spagnoli, born and raised in the Pontine territory, expressed his gratitude to the superior authorities for the trust placed in him in giving him the position and, thanking his predecessor for the excellent operating conditions in which he leaves the brigade and addressing his thoughts to the personnel of the 4th brigade he said: “We must believe in the strength of the group, or rather of the team, which differs from the group because in the team everyone has their own well-defined role; we must act in a synergistic manner because, as an African proverb says, if you go alone you may go faster, but if you go together you will certainly go further". Finally, Gen. Spagnoli underlined that “only teamwork in such a complex, changing and unstable environment allows us to achieve increasingly distant goals” because “It is now clear that staff represents the true competitive advantage of every organization”

The ceremony concluded with the intervention of the logistics commander who took the floor by first thanking General Sanasi for his command action at the head of the 4th brigade “thanks to which the Armed Force has grown exponentially in its sector of expertise”, and finally he wished General Spagnoli good luck in carrying out his role which will certainly be full of challenges and full of professional and personal rewards.

The general Spagnoli, coming from the regular courses of the Air Force Academy, course Aeolus IV, has held various positions at national, international and joint levels, including commander of the 3rd wing of Verona Villafranca and head of the support service of the logistics command of the Air Force. 

The 4th Telecommunications and Systems Brigade for Air Defense and Flight Assistance of Borgo Piave is the main structure of the 3rd Division of the Logistics Command of the Air Force which has responsibility for the design, construction, installation, maintenance both on the national territory and in operations outside national borders, telecommunications and electronics systems, radar systems, radio flight and air navigation assistance systems and meteorological support systems. The 4th brigade also has the task of qualifying and training all personnel assigned to the sectors communication information systems, air defense radar systems, air traffic and weather. 

The 1st and 2nd Technical Communications Department, the Technical Center for Meteorology, the Remote Radar squadrons distributed across the national territory and the 134th Remote Radar Center depend on the brigade.
