On Thursday 31 July, at the military airport of Guidonia (RM), there was the handover ceremony leading the Aerocooperation School between the outgoing commander, general of the air division Roberto Lamanna, and the incoming commander, brigadier general aerial Fabio Giunchi.

Civil and military authorities and local combat and military associations took part in the ceremony, presided over by the commander of the Schools Air Force and 3 ^ air region commander, general of the Franco Girardi air team.

General Lamanna, who left the Aerocooperation School after three years of command and active service after 40 years, in his intervention wanted to highlight "how the term school is now to be considered reductive, since, in reality, this has become an institution of very high value for the operations of the Armed Forces, where the personnel is trained and specialized to operate in very delicate positions, also of an Inter-force and international nature, as in the operational contexts, both in the field of remote sensing for the interpretation and the analysis of optical and radar data provided by satellites and sensors mounted on aircraft, including remote piloting, both in the field of aerocooperation, with the qualification of Forward Air Controllers (advanced air controllers), whose training procedure has recently obtained certification BORN".

General Giunchi, in turn, in thanking the superior authorities for the trust placed in him, has ensured the maximum commitment in completing "the complex project of transformation and internationalization of the Aerocooperation School, aimed not only at satisfying the renewed operational needs of the Defense, in continuous evolution, also to the achievement of that 'capacity of excellence' in advanced training, for the benefit of the national Armed Forces and of allied and friendly countries ".

General Girardi, in his closing speech, highlighted that "the evolution of the School's institutional goals, even if ambitious, are the natural consequence of the excellent results achieved in recent years and the fruit of a wider and bolder" vision "on the role that this reality will have to play in the revision of the military instrument, in the face of the pressing needs imposed by global challenges to security and the difficult economic and financial situation ".

The Aerocooperation School is the Military Forces Specialist training and technical-operative value in the field of interpretation of remote sensing images (aerial and satellite) and in that of aeroterrestre and aeronavale cooperation. The courses held at the Aerocooperation School are open , in addition to the military personnel of the armed forces, also to personnel external to the Defense administration and to the military personnel of NATO and of the countries participating in the international Partnership for Peace program (PfP - Partnership for Peace), with prior authorization from the General Staff defense.
