Cooperation activities between Italy and Egypt

From the 21 to the 24 October a delegation of the Egyptian air forces, made up of air traffic controllers officers responsible for the training institute of military air traffic controllers in Cairo, visited the training center for airspace control (RACSA) of Practice of Mare (Rome).

The delegation was welcomed by Colonel Sabino Esposito, commander of the RACSA, who in his welcome speech stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation activities.

Lieutenant Colonel Pierivo Facchini, commander of the air traffic operational training group, in his initial briefing illustrated the activities of the department, with particular reference to the instructional one addressed to the controller personnel of the foreign air forces; moreover, topics were discussed concerning the "Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA)" and the "Community License of the Air Traffic Controller".

The visit continued to the air traffic simulators (TWR 360 ° and Radar), the multimedia classrooms and the air defense operations room (DA).

During the days spent in Pratica di Mare, the delegation visited the office responsible for the design of instrumental flight procedures, airspace and radar maps of the aeronautical geotopographic information center (CIGA), the national center for meteorological and climatological aeronautics ( CNMCA) and the airport control tower (Airport Command).

The visit ended at the commander's office with the head of the department's honorary register signed by the Head of Delegation, who expressed his interest in carrying out air traffic courses and instrumental procedures at the RACSA for staff Egyptian.

The RACSA, dependent on the 9 ^ Air Brigade "Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance - Electronic Warfare (ISTAR - EW)", is the training institution of the military aeronautics that has the task of training the official staff and non-commissioned officers of all the armed forces in charge of air traffic control, Air Defense and Meteorology. The Department also performs the assessment of the technical proficiency in English technical "Technical Proficiency Test" (TPT) required by the TA / DA controllers for the performance of the airspace management functions.
