Emergency landing for a Saudi C-130

On Monday 27 October, due to a failure, a Royal Saudi Air Force C-130 was forced to make an emergency landing at Brindisi airport. During a transfer from France to the Hellenic airport of Iraklion, in contact with the Approach Control-Approaching Control of Brindisi (APP), he declared a state of emergency due to an engine failure.

The aircraft was thus managed by the radar room of the Salento detachment, which assisted it until the landing. During the approach procedure in the meantime, the personnel working at the Flight Information Center (NIV), alerted by the radar room, immediately coordinated the intervention of Passenger Aircraft Assistance (NAVP) personnel and the ladder for engine failure control , made available by the local civil airport.

The operation took place according to the established procedures, supported by the intervention of the health personnel and by the fire brigade of the civil airport.

In the early hours of yesterday, a team of specialists arrived in Brindisi on a second C-130 aircraft to carry out the appropriate technical work to repair the fault.
