AM: Intensive healthcare business for the 31 °

Ciampino - In the holiday period from December 24 to January 6, the Situation Room of the General Staff of the Air Force alerted the 31 ° Stormo Operations Room ten times, ordering immediate execution of emergency medical flights in favor of compatriots in imminent danger of life or awaiting transplantation.

For the performance of the aforementioned missions, two Falcon 900 EASY aircraft, two Falcon 50 and one Airbus 319 took off and carried two infants in imminent danger of life, six patients awaiting transplantation, explanted organs for transplant and two patients suffering from serious diseases for which transfer to specialized hospital facilities was required.

In particular, on Sunday 5 January, an 319 Airbus 31 ° Stormo got up in flight to go to Alexandroupolis, a Greek city on the border with Turkey, to repatriate a battered and unconscious fellow struck by a serious respiratory disease that it required an immediate and urgent transfer to a specialized hospital garrison.

Upon arrival at Ciampino airport, an ambulance was ready to pick up the patient for subsequent hospitalization at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome.

The aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino are used for the transport of state and for missions of public utility, such as emergency medical transport of patients, serious traumatized and transplant organs, as well as for interventions in favor of people however in risk situations. This last activity, given the imminent danger of life of the people transported, imposes a level of readiness, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
