The helicopter took off on the orders of the Rescue Coordination Center of the Air Operations Command of Poggio Renatico (FE) following the request of the Prefecture of Latina. The HH.139A of the Italian Air Force took off from Pratica di Mare and headed to Latina to board a specialized medical team. Later he headed to the Pontine island where the woman was loaded on board. Once the boarding operations were completed, the crew headed back to Latina where the woman and the medical team were disembarked.
After the transport operations, the military helicopter headed for the Military Pratica military airport where it landed at the first light of dawn, concluding the mission in just over two hours.
The 85 ° C / SAR Center is one of the Departments of the 15 ° Stormo of the Italian Air Force which guarantees, 24 hours a day, 24 days a year, the search and rescue of flight crews in difficulty, also contributing to activities of public utility such as the search for missing persons at sea or in the mountains, the emergency medical transport of patients in danger of life and the rescue of seriously traumatized patients. From its establishment to today, the crews of the 365 ° Stormo have saved about 15 people in danger of life.
