46ª ba: visit by the commander of the Australian air forces

On Tuesday 5 July, GN Air Marshal Leo Davies, commander of the Australian Air Force, visited the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa, accompanied by the commander of the Command for Support and Special Forces (CFSS), Air Force General Roberto Boi.

To welcome the Australian guest, the commander of the 46th, air brigade general Achille Cazzaniga, who illustrated the main tasks performed by the brigade.

In particular he was described the many training and operational activities with the visit of theInternational Training Center (ITC), an international training center frequented not only by the pilots and specialists of the two aircraft supplied to the brigade - C-130J and C-27J - but also by the crews of other countries who can access the facility, unanimously considered a point of excellence, following agreements signed with Italy.

In addition, the commander of the Australian air forces was able to see the potential, in terms of training return and fleet management savings, guaranteed by the two modern full motion flight simulators included in the Center.

The visit involved the 98 ° flight group, since the "Lupi" group uses the C-27J tactical transport twin-engine which was recently acquired and used by the Royal Australian Air Force. 

The commander of the 98 ° group was able to illustrate how the Air Force uses, exploiting its flexibility and efficiency, the aircraft supplied, as well as its "dual" use, not only in a purely military context but also in support of other civil institutions of the Status in case of urgent transport or rescue needs.

The visit ended with the signing of the Register of Honor during which the guest wanted to emphasize the level of professionalism and motivation found during the visit.

The 46 ^ air brigade ensures tactical and strategic air transport for C27J and C130J aircraft for missions inside and outside national borders, emergency medical transport, medical evacuation by air, transport of materials, men and vehicles around the world, 24 hours on 24, 365 days a year, thanks to the men, women and vehicles of its three flight groups: 2 °, 50 ° and 98 °.
