Six athletes from Defense Paralympic Sports Team, captained by lieutenant colonel Gianfranco Paglia, were among the main protagonists of the first competition Coppa Italia of Paralympic Nordic skiing of the season. Last January 13th, on the slopes of Schilpario (BG), the athletes of the GSPD competed together with the athletes of four other companies, giving the public moments of pure emotion for the grit and tenacity with which they faced the slopes, exactly as in life.

The team was composed, in addition to the lieutenant. with the. Paglia, also from: Chief Marshal Mattia Dal Pastro, Deputy Brigadier Raffaele Di Luca, First Graduate Marco Pisani, Technical Assistant Giuseppe Spatola and Administrative Assistant Jacopo Maria Curzi.

The athletes won 5 medals overall: two silver medals in the category. LW6 (standing), in the 5 km specialty and in the sprint race specialty (won by the mar. approx. Mattia Dal Pastro); three bronze medals, two of which in the cat. LW12 (sitting), in the 5 km specialty (won by the technical assistant Giuseppe Spatola) and in the sprint specialty (won by the first grad. Marco Pisani), and one in the cat. LW9 (standing) sprint specialty (won by Brig. Raffaele Di Luca).

The Fisip is the promoter of this initiative which, together with other similar ones, demonstrates once again that sport is not only a means of inclusion and sharing, but also a therapeutic support in overcoming moral and physical difficulties.

“Being on these ski fields and practicing this discipline is already a victory in itself, until a few years ago all this would have been unthinkable”, declared the lieutenant. with the. Hay. “I hope that this Italian Cup will pave the way for other seasons, with an ever-increasing number of participants”.
