The NATO exercise at the Frecatei training area in Romania ended in recent days Saber Guardian 23, which saw the participation of assets of the command for operational forces north belonging to the brigade thunderbolt, made up of soldiers of the "Savoia Cavalleria" regiment, responsible for the entire activity, of the 183rd "Nembo" regiment and of the 8th engineer sappers regiment.
Twelve participating allied and partner nations, in addition to Italy: Albania, Bulgaria, France, Greece, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, the Netherlands and the USA. Conducted every two years, this activity is planned with the aim of improving interoperability between the participating units and has foreseen the development of a wide range of tactical activities.
In the final exercise, Folgore's paratrooper scouts operated in the maneuver scheme of the 282nd mechanized brigade Romanian. By carrying out an airdrop with the free fall technique and in coordination with a parachute company of the 495th airborne battalion Romanian, engaged on a different launch area, the explorers were given the task of reconnoitering the area, identifying and assigning targets with the intervention of aerial assets, near the river bank.
