Operation eVA Hungary: concluded the Brave Warrior exercise

The second and final phase of the international exercise "Brave Warrior 1-23" has ended, which saw the personnel of the Italian contingent engaged in Hungary in Operation eVA - enhanced Vigilance Activity as protagonists.

About 260 Alpini from the "Julia" brigade conducted a series of training sessions and two highly complex exercises, lasting over 72 hours each, working in close coordination with the other contingents present in the theatre.

The exercise, which began in mid-May, saw more than 1200 soldiers and more than 300 vehicles belonging to the 4 contingents that make up the Veszprém-Varpalota Training Center Area. battle group of NATO.

The whole battle group positioned on a line of fire of over 3 km, it saw deployed:

- US cavalry unit

- Hungarian mechanized infantry, scouts and artillery units

- the Croatian Militar Police

- the totality of the Italian contingent.

The latter, in a "Combined Arms" context, employed two light infantry platoons on "Lince" VTLM and BV 206S7, a 120 mm heavy mortar platoon, a TACP team, an anti-tank team and a team of snipers from the 8th Alpini Regiment, a reconnaissance platoon on armored vehicle "Centauro" of Piedmont Cavalry (2nd), a battery of FH70s of the 3rd Mountain Artillery Regiment and an engineer set up on VTMM "Orso" of the 2nd Engineer Regiment Guastatori.

Careful logistical-operational planning between all units on the ground, training oriented towards multi-weapon integration and cooperation between the different contingents, combined with high professionalism, have ensured the integrated development of a high-intensity fire action , which saw each specialty alternate, guaranteeing effective defense of the positions and maximum safety when moving on the ground.

The conclusion of the “Brave Warrior” represents for the battle group born the achievement of Full Operational Capability (FOC). Activities for the Italian contingent will continue in the coming months with further training aimed at developing offensive tactical activities.
