Last July 9, Nave Virginio Fasan, has successfully completed the period of integration with the naval group escorting the US Navy aircraft carrier "Dwight D. Eisenhower", with which it participated in the Composite Training Unit Exercise (C2X) and, after a brief stop in Boston, is preparing to return to Italy after 100 days of deployment.
The exercise, which began last June 15, saw the progressive integration of the FREMM ASW of the Navy with the units of the Carrier Strike Group 2 within which, under the careful evaluation of the CSG-4 staff, the Italian frigate contributed, thanks to the outstanding capabilities in all forms of combat (AAW, ASuW, ASW) of the performing sensory suite on board, to ensure a three-dimensional surveillance.
The participation of Nave Fasan at C2X, represented a precious opportunity to strengthen the already consolidated bond of partnerships that exists between Italy and the United States, all of which is part of an important collaboration program aimed at strengthening the ties and the ability to act in a coordinated and synergistic way between the Italian Navy and the US Navy, both within the Atlantic Alliance and as a bilateral partnership.
