MIBIL: the Italian contingent engaged in CIMIC activities

The constant commitment of MIBIL, the Italian Military Mission which has been operating in Lebanon since 2015 in the sector of training in favor of the local Security Forces and in various sectors in support of the Lebanese aqutorities, continues.

In the second half of July, a CIMIC activity was conducted in the municipalities of Aamchit, Ghosta and Kfardebien, a locality north-east of the capital Beirut where MIBIL itself operates daily with training courses for the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF).

Activity that made it possible to donate a second tranche of 17.250 kg of fertilizers for agricultural use, of different types and chemical characteristics, in favor of 345 small farmers in the area. In particular, two bags of fertilizers were given to each farmer.

The distribution of fertilizer, an activity much appreciated by the population and local authorities, will make it possible to improve the yield of the land of small agricultural realities in difficulty due to the current economic crisis in Lebanon in the short term, a project that is aimed at increasing the sustainability of agriculture in this area of ​​Lebanon.

The activity was made possible thanks to the continuous collaboration of CIMIC (Civil and Military Cooperation) of MIBIL with the three municipalities interested in the distribution of fertilizers.

The donation ceremony was attended by Colonel Angelo Sacco, commander of MIBIL, the mayors of the municipalities involved, together with a representation of the beneficiary farmers.

On the occasion, Colonel Sacco highlighted the importance of supporting the agricultural sector, as a fundamental tool for development and economic recovery for the country. The local authorities present at the ceremony thanked Italy, the MIBIL and the Italian Armed Forces for the important donation received and for their concrete closeness to Lebanon in a moment of extreme difficulty.

The donations were completed with national funds as part of the Civil and Military Cooperation activities conducted by MIBIL staff, and are part of a broader project that plans to support local institutions and the weakest sections of the population through donations of goods, materials and the implementation of specific projects.

The activities carried out in the Operative Theater are conducted under the coordination and according to the directives given by the operational command of interforce forces (COVI).
