Kuwait: 7000 flight hours for Italian Eurofighters

During the 7000 flight hours the Eurofighter EF2000 Typhoon Italians have carried out more than 850 missions reconnoitering 19000 points of interest and carrying out almost 3000 in-flight refueling. Activities that have the main objective of supporting the coalition against the Daesh providing its TACRECCE capability (Tactical Reconnaissance) and that of DCA (Defensive Counter Air).

The F-2000 aircraft also conducted air-to-air and air-to-ground tactical training in dedicated areas in Kuwait. To date, more than 70 CAS training missions have been flown (Close Air Support) and Range (ground shooting), in collaboration with the TACP (United States Air Force Tactical Air Control Party) and AH-64 helicopters Apache of the nearby US base of Camp Buehring.

The Task Group Typhoon, within theItalian National Contingent Command Air - Kuwait, operational in Kuwait since April 2019, initially based at Al Jaber Air Base, Kuwait, then moved, in April 2021, to its current location at Ali Al Salem Airport. Over the years it has seen the succession of seafarers and specialists from the 4th, 36th, 37th and 51st wings of the Air Force, together with support personnel from the various Armed Forces distributed throughout the country, also demonstrating the excellent ability of staff to blend quickly and work together. 

In addition to the Task Group Typhoon, the Task Group also operates at the IT NCC AIR Breus, the Task Group Phoenix, the Task Group Albatros and the Task Group medal with Air Force aircraft and the SAMP/T SCUTUM Task Group of the Italian Army equipped with an anti-aircraft defense system.

The operational activities in Kuwait are conducted under the coordination and according to the directives given by the operational command of interforce forces (COVI).
