This morning the Italian military of Regional Command West (RC-W) of the NATO KFOR operation, through the specialized assets of Civil and Military Cooperation (CIMIC), delivered healthcare and IT devices to the Pediatric Oncology-Hematology Department of the University Hospital of Pristina.

The materials were purchased and donated by the non-profit organization "Vivere per Amare - Life to Love", represented by the Vice President Mariano Barbi, Captain of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Among the devices supplied to the hospital in the Kosovo capital, there are pediatric venous catheters to facilitate the infusion of chemotherapy in young patients, but also tablets and multimedia devices to allow long-term patients to maintain contact with family members and schools.

The support to local health institutions, as highlighted by Colonel Mario Bozzi, commander of RC-W, represents the concrete implementation of the motto of the KFOR XXVII Mission "Shaping the Presence for a better future", i.e. laying the foundations to allow especially young to live a better future.

The activity, supported by the operational command of interforce forces of Defence, is part of the broader collaboration between KFOR, local institutions and the "Nicola Ciardelli" association, launched in Italy in 2022 and continued in Kosovo with the aim of developing new clinical capabilities and increasing local health standards.

The men and women of the Italian Armed Forces, together with the multinational component of KFOR, have the task of ensuring continuous contact with the population, local government institutions, national and international organizations, political parties and representatives of different ethnic groups and religions present on the territory, in order to acquire elements of knowledge useful to the KFOR command for the performance of its mission, guaranteeing a safe and protected environment, in accordance with the provisions of Resolution 1244 of the United Nations Security Council.
