Kosove: Orthodox Christmas in Decane

On the occasion of the liturgical celebrations of Orthodox Christmas, the Multinational Battle Group West (MNBG-W), a regimental unit with Italian leadership included in the NATO "Joint Enterprise" mission, guaranteed the safety of the Visoki Decane monastery.

The military of the MNBG-W, in fact, despite the bad weather conditions of the last few days, have continued to carry out their task with great professionalism allowing the Orthodox faithful to celebrate Christmas also at the renowned place of worship located at 12 Km south of city ​​of Pec / Peja.

The Italian contingent in Kosovo, deployed under the commander of KFOR general division Giovanni Fungo, carries out presence and deterrence actions, in order to maintain a safe environment and prevent the use of violence, while contributing to the consolidation of peace and civil growth process.

The Decane monastery is located in the sector in which the MNBG-W is deployed and is a place of worship of extraordinary historical and cultural importance built between the 1327 and the 1335 and declared patrimony of UNESCO.
