Iraq: Ambassador Pasquino visits the Italian soldiers of the "Prima Parthica" mission

Last December 24, the Italian ambassador to Iraq, if Antonio Pasquino, paid a visit to the Italian military contingent employed in the Iraqi theater.

The visit began at the Mosul Dam where he met the Task Force soldiers Praesidium and the Trevi Group staff who, since last year, have been operating - each in the specific areas of expertise - to secure the infrastructure.

The meeting was held with the heads of the Iraqi security forces in the sensitive province of Mosul, which, in the area, flanked the national military component in the defense of the Dam.

Accompanied by General Roberto Vannacci, commander of the Italian contingent in Iraq and by Dr. Serena Muroni, Italian consul in Erbil, if the ambassador was able to see the capabilities put in place by the "Italian System" in Northern Iraq. First, the inauguration of a soccer field, realized by the Trevi company as part of the project "Mosul Dam for Social", which sees the Cesena Group, flanked by the Italian Army with the participation of other partners, promoter of projects to favor of the Iraqi population with particular regard to the condition of minors. During the short ceremony the Ambassador was able to verify the level of interoperability achieved by the Task Force Praesidium Counter-Terrorism Service to guarantee security in the area.

The visit then continued on the site of the Diga, where the staff of the 3 ° alpine regiment, as part of the mission entrusted to him, ensures the safety of the infrastructure.

The visit ended at the Italian base in Mosul Dam where the ambassador met General Najim, commander of the Ninewa Operational Center, the operational command that coordinates and monitors operations throughout the province of Mosul. On this occasion General Najim congratulated the ambassador and General Vannacci for the high level of integration and coordination achieved between the Italian and Iraqi military components and for the high level of professionalism shown by the Italian military engaged in training and in the support of the Iraqi security forces.

In the afternoon, the visit continued in Erbil, where a new parking area (APRON) was inaugurated by the staff of the 2 ° Engineering Department of the Italian Air Force and where the highest diplomatic authority has sent its best wishes to the staff of the Task Force Griffon, army unit in charge of providing the capacity to Personnel Ricovery to the anti-DAESH coalition. 
The APRON will be dedicated to the rotary wing assemblies of the AVES and fixed wing of the Italian Air Force.

Before leaving the offices of Mosul and Erbil, the ambassador visited the national support base where he met the Army trainers who serve in the Kurdish Training Coordination Center and, finally, he wanted to address the Italian contingent's military, his wishes for the holidays, thanking them for their work and for the image of efficiency and professionalism of a Country System which, even in Iraq, is univocally recognized.
