Iraq: Carabinieri of the Task Force Police form the Iraqi police

In recent days, in Erbil (Iraq), the instructors of the Carabinieri Grouping of Scientific Investigations (RaCIS), they conducted and successfully concluded the first one Crime Scene Investigation Course (CSI) in favor of the managerial framework of the Regional Police.

The lectures, initially theoretical, were held at the Directorate of Forensic Sciences of Iraqi Kurdistan and were aimed at transmitting notions of protection, management and analysis of the crime scene. specifically, inspection, finding the traces and maintaining the chain of custody.
A special module was dedicated to the analysis of the crime scene characterized by the explosion of an IED (improvised explosive device).

The various disciplines were then also dealt with in practice with the simulation of a criminal event, in particular with the use of specific instrumentation and reagents (crimescope, luminol etc.).
The purpose of the course was to implement the technical and professional skills of personnel with highly specialized positions inserted in the Iraqi institutions and fill some cognitive gaps related to the rapid technological evolution.

The leaders of the Police Corps, during the ceremony for the delivery of the certificates of participation, had words of appreciation for the activity carried out by the Carabinieri, recognizing at the same time how the level of professionalism achieved by the regional police is constantly growing and hoping for the continuation of courses with a high technical content.

The crime scene analysis course, together with other courses already provided such as crowd control training (Anti-riot) and courses for high-risk operations, is part of the training offer made available by the Iraq Police Task Force, composed of about 90 units and operates both in Baghdad and Erbil, in Iraqi Kurdistan. The Task Force, led by the Carabinieri, contributes to consolidating the stabilization and normalization process of the country through the formation of modern police forces. There Police Task Force Iraq is part of the international mission Operation Inherent Resolve - Prima Parthica in which the Italian Armed Forces participate with over 1300 soldiers.
