On board the amphibious ship Juan Carlos I, moored in the base of Rota, the ceremony for the change in command of the ship was held Italian-Spanish Amphibious Force (SIAF) and related Landing force (SILF), chaired by the admirals of division Rodriguez Pena and Giacinto Sciandra, representing the commands of the Spanish fleet and the Italian naval squadron.

Rear Admiral Stefano Costantino, commander of the XNUMXrd Naval Division of the Italian Navy, took charge of ComSIAF sold by Rear Admiral Ignacio Cespedes Camacho, commander of the "Grupo Anfibio y de Proyecciòn" of the Spanish Armada, while Rear Admiral Massimiliano Giuseppe Grazioso, commander of the Marine Brigade Saint Mark, assumed the position of ComSILF succeeding Brigadier General Josè Luis Souto Aguirre, Commander of the Tercio de Armada.

The Italian-Spanish Amphibious and Landing Force, which this year marks the 25th anniversary of its establishment, was created by the Ministries of Defense of the two Countries with the aim of contributing - in a unified and complementary form - to the Multinational Forces which normally contribute to the collective security of the international community.

The Force is made up of a “naval component”, i.e. the Spanish-Italian Amphibious Forces (SIAF) flanked by Spanish-Italian Landing Forces (SILF) Amphibious Operations Officer.

For years SIAF has been guaranteeing a qualified participation in the NATO and European Union contexts, helping to express the rotation of forces in high operational readiness for the NATO Response Force (NRF) and lo European Union Battle Group (EUBG), as well as participating in the main European forum of the sector represented by European Amphibious Initiative (EAI).
