In recent days, the "JAMIANO" exercise was held in the training area of Novo Selo (Bulgaria) in which the land components of the units belonging to the multinational battle group in Bulgaria.
The activity, which involved infantry, cavalry, artillery and engineering units, had as a scenario the carrying out of a defensive maneuver, with the aim of slowing down the advance and reducing the operational capacity of the opposing units.
Approximately 400 soldiers and 54 tactical vehicles from the following nations were employed to carry out the "JAMIANO" exercise: Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Montenegro and North Macedonia.
The exercise has fully achieved the objective of increasing the integration, interoperability and standardization of procedures between the units of the nations that make up the multinational battle group “Bulgaria” of which Italy has assumed the role of Country Framework from 17 October 2022.
The operations conducted by the Italian Armed Forces on the eastern flank of NATO are ordered by the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone and are under the coordination and direction of the operational command of interforce forces (COVI).
