A series of courses entitled "UXO & Mine Awareness", important training activities focused on the recognition of unexploded ordnance and land mines that the soldiers of the Italian UNIFIL contingent have organized for personnel, concluded with the ceremony for the delivery of the certificates of attendance. of the Lebanese Armed Forces and of foreign military contingents operating within Sector West.
During the theoretical phases of the courses the issues related to raising awareness about the explosive threats characteristic of the Lebanese theater and the potential presence of chemical aggressives and the dangers deriving from it were treated.
The practical phase was instead characterized by a series of exercises during which the visitors were trained to recognize conventional explosive devices and emergency medical procedures to be adopted in the event of accidents.
Thanks to the specialized EOD / IEDD staff and the CBRN qualified personnel of the national contingent, the Lebanese armed forces and military personnel coming from the non-national contingents operating in the UNIFIL area have significantly increased preparation on conventional explosive devices to the benefit of interoperability and coordination between the units of different armed forces present in the Sector West area of responsibility.
