10 Taliban fighters have joined the program of reconciliation with the Afghan government institutions and, in the presence of the main civil authorities, during a solemn ceremony, they handed over their armament to the security forces.

The role of the Afghan police and army was decisive, trained and assisted by the Italian contingent of TAAC West, currently led by the "Sassari" brigade which, expressing ever greater levels of professionalism, guarantee meticulous control of the territory, drastically reducing the freedom of movement of the so-called enemies of Afghanistan. The former insurgents themselves, during the solemn ceremony, attributed to the local security forces the main reason for their choice of reconciliation, namely the fear of being captured during the pressing operations.

In fact, there are many operations conducted by local security forces that are leading to results of absolute importance, it is an example of the activity led intelligence conducted in the province of Farah last week that led to the neutralization of some leaders of the insurgency and disarticulation of the chain of command and control.

The reconciliation program promoted by the Afghan institutions provides some incentives with the aim of further increasing the number of supporters of the Afghan government, which in the province of Herat has risen to about 78% of the population and is among the highest in the entire country .

Among the objectives identified and shared by the commander of the TAAC W, Gianluca Carai with the civil and military authorities of Herat recently met, that of achieving the 80% of the population in support of the Afghan government, in line with the provisions of a recent agreement signed from the top of the mission Resolute Support with President Ghani. Already identified the main lines of action that will be discussed in the coming days in an important security meeting to be held in Camp Arena in the presence of the main local military authorities and the command of Resolute Support coming from Kabul.
