The learning of the main knots, rope maneuvers, abseiling and fixed rope ascent techniques as well as the use of a cableway for transporting the department armament are just some of the learning objectives included in the educational program for the "Mountain Warfare" course organized by Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC-W) in favor of ten soldiers of the Afghan National Army (ANA) or the Afghan Army.

The basic combat course in a mountain environment, conducted by all the TAAC W personnel and in particular by instructors from the Aosta Alpine Training Center, lasted three weeks and ended with a final exam valid for obtaining the combat qualification. at high altitude, which took place on a natural cliff that had been equipped for the occasion and which is located about 20 km away from the base away from Camp Arena. This type of training was born from the requests for support expressed by the commander of the 207th Afghan Army Corps to make the training of its soldiers even more closely related to the morphology of the territory.

Great satisfaction was shown by the instructors of the Italian contingent, based on the "Sassari" Brigade, for the results achieved and the performance provided by the students during the practical activities of the "Mountain Warefare" course.

The commander of the TAAC W has pronounced words of praise towards the Afghan military inciting them to express the same professionalism during the operational activities in which they will be involved in order to guarantee peace in their country.

The goal of the mission Resolute Support it consists precisely in the training, assistance and advice of the Afghan Security Forces, and in this perspective also includes the "Mountain Warfare" course.
