Afghanistan: the escort of the provincial governor and Herat's attorney general trained by the Italian armed forces

The course was concluded with a ceremony for the delivery of certificates of attendance Personal Security Escort Team (PSET) for the escort and protection of the VIPs, organized by the instructors of the Italian contingent in Herat in favor of nine policemen belonging to the Afghan Uniform Police (AUP).

The course, prepared by the Police Advisor Team (PAT), was developed on a theoretical-practical program that lasted 2 weeks which, in addition to creating the necessary harmony among the team members, set the procedures for implement with automatism, synchrony and clarity, in the management of threats, to guarantee the VIPs protection and safety.

The use
For the results achieved, the newly promoted Team Scorta was chosen by the provincial police to guarantee the protection of the highest civil authorities of Herat, namely the provincial governor and the prosecutor.

The tasks of the AUP
The Afghan Uniform Police is one of the police forces present in Afghanistan and lends its service in the city contexts with positions of public security, Vip protection and contrast to the common crime, similar to the Carabinieri and the State Police in Italy. It differs from the Afghan National Civil Order Police (ANCOP) which, for equipment, heavy armaments supplied and employment, provides instead support to the Afghan National Army, the National Army, in operations to combat the onset and counter-terrorism .

Italian support
The PSET course is part of the training activities (Train) and consultancy (Advise and Assist) that the Italian contingent leads in favor of the Afghan Army and Police, with the aim of training "specialists" in matters of intelligence, contrast to improvised devices, use of mortars and artillery, control of airspace through targeted courses, seminars and symposia.
