The use of game dynamics for the study and analysis of military problems, as well as for training officers in the decision-making process has ancient roots that are lost in past centuries: "Tell me and I will forget, show me and I will remember, involve me and I will understand", Confucius recited 25 centuries ago. The Institute of Maritime Military Studies of Venice, home of the normal general staff course and the Navy Study Center, for over a year he has actively participated in the international working group for the organization of the "Wargaming Initiative for NATO", which successfully conducted the first two editions in Paris and Rome (at the Center for High Defense Studies).

By virtue of the knowledge acquired in this very high level context and also thanks to the precious collaboration of Dr. Patrick Ruestchmann, Deputy Editor for Wargaming at Center interarmées de concepts, de doctrines et d’experimentations of the French Armed Forces and one of the leading experts within the Atlantic Alliance, in the first ten days of January a specific workshop was organised, in favor of the 91st normal general staff course, in which the Frequent Officers tested themselves with two several wargames, one of a military nature at an operational level and one at a political-strategic level with the use of the "tools of power" available to the respective States.

The event allowed attending officers to expand their analytical skills and acquire awareness of the potential of wargaming, providing them with a further work tool to use in future national and international employment destinations.
