Mattarella in Montreal on Nave Vespucci

Today the president of the republic, Sergio Mattarella, visited the training ship Amerigo Vespucci, parked in the Port of Montreal for the 2017 Education Campaign.

Arrived by sea near the historic sailing ship, the president received the honors with the "greeting to the voice" from the crew of the Vespucci, lined up along the trees of the naval unit of the Navy, and by the students of the 1 ^ class of the Naval Academy of Livorno, just boarded for the start of their first Summer Education Campaign.

The visit of the head of state is part of the celebrations for the 150 Anniversary of the constitution of the Canadian Confederation.

For this special and historic event, in the sign of deep gratitude towards Italy and towards the largest Italian community present in Canada, the mayor of Montreal delivered on the bridge of the Vespucci the keys to the city to President Mattarella officially kicking off celebrations.

The head of state then made a visit on board also passing through the interior of theAmerigo Vespucci, where he met the Navy personnel and was able to see the union between innovation and tradition, past and present that are harmoniously condensed in this Italian excellence, symbol of Made in Italy in the world.

The visit ended with the solemn flag along with the crew and students of the Naval Academy, making this ceremony even more valuable, which for every sailor is already rich in profound meaning.
