Navy: Three technical arrangements with the Qatar Navy

At the headquarters of the General Staff of the Navy (Palazzo Marina), they were signed by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, amm. of team Valter Girardelli, and the commander of the Navy of the Emirate of Qatar, major staff general Mohammed Nasser Al Mohannadi, three "Technical Arrangement" to allow, in the immediate future:

  • the participation by the Qatar crews of the corvettes of the next acquisition to the training and training courses at the Navy Centers;
  • the sending of an MM liaison officer to the main member of the Qatar Navy in Doha;
  • the embarkation of Qatar Navy personnel aboard MM Unit.

The three documents are part of the broader framework of increasing collaboration between the Armed Forces of the two countries, sanctioned by the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed the 16 June 2016 by the Minister of Defense Sen. Roberta Pinotti and the Minister of Defense Affairs of the Qatar, Khalid bin Muhammad Al-Attiyah.

The ceremony for the signing of the three TAs was also an occasion for an informal meeting between the heads of the two Marines to discuss further possible areas of cooperation such as, for example, the accession of the Marina of Qatar to the VRMTC (Virtual Regional Maritime Traffic Center), a possible support of the Navy for the launch of the training and training centers of the Qatar Navy and the participation of the Navy commander of the Qatar Regional Seapower Symposium 2017 which will be organized by the Navy in the frame of the Venice Arsenal.
