The Federation of the Sea meets the naval team of the Navy

On Wednesday 25 January a meeting between the Italian Maritime System Federation (Federation of the Sea), an organization that brings together most of the civil maritime activities of the country, and the leaders of the Navy.

The commander-in-chief of the naval team, Admiral Donato Marzano, illustrated the support that the air-naval instrument can provide to the national merchant shipping, through an action aimed at preserving the free use of the sea.

The meeting is part of the institutional activities of the command in chief of the naval team and reflects an international, European and global vision, which sees the millennium that has just begun characterized by "blue growth" on which to focus, for sustainable development, in a context where seafaring represents a fundamental resource for commercial, employment and technological growth.

A visit / meeting to search for new areas of collaboration and synergies useful for increasing maritime safety, with safe access to routes and ports in crisis areas, to have a quick reaction to the threats that arise, to provide the shipping an “advisory” service, with information regarding above all military security risks.

The chief of staff of the Navy, Admiral Valter Girardelli, intervened at the conclusion of the works, stressed the importance of maritime culture and maritime culture for a future of economic development. For his part, for the maritime cluster, the president of the Federation of the Sea Paolo d'Amico and the vice-president Umberto Masucci, president of the International Propeller Clubs of Italy, accompanied by members of the summit of Assonave, ANCIP, Confitarma, Federagenti, Federpesca, RAM and Lega Navale, in confirming the commitment to increase collaboration with the Navy, also called for increased attention to the sea on the part of the civil administration and a closer synergy to raise awareness and reinvigorate that maritime culture. Maritime culture that, both President D'amico and Admiral Girardelli, consider essential for a country like Italy, which boasts large merchant and fishing fleets and represents with its ports a strategic source of supply for our manufacturing and one of the main transit points for goods for the whole of Europe.
