The exercise ended Deep Pool 2023 which saw the divers from the research office and the Comsubin underwater operations group conduct activities in confined waters at the Y-40 swimming pool, one of the deepest in the world.
During the period, the operators succeeded one another in over sixty dives which allowed, in addition to consolidating training, to test the most modern electronic closed-circuit and mechanical semi-closed-circuit breathing apparatus dedicated to military uses, to test their peculiar technical characteristics and refine the related procedures for use in the various operational scenarios in which Navy divers find themselves operating on a daily basis.
Furthermore, as part of the collaborations with the biomedical sciences department of the University of Padua, support was given to a study conducted by prof. Gerardo Bosco, with whom by exploring the effects of exposure to extreme environmental conditions on diving operators, the aim is to optimize decompression profiles and emergency procedures.
