Ship Etna and the 2nd San Marco regiment were once again protagonists from 14 to 17 February in the training aimed at increasing the Maritime Interdiction Operations (MY).

The fight against piracy and illicit trafficking at sea, characterized by rapid dynamism and evolution, increasingly require trained personnel capable of guaranteeing MIO capability.

For this reason, the fusiliers of the 2nd San Marco regiment, already in possession of the amphibious qualification patent, continue to refine their peculiarities with two training modules, a basic one, aimed at acquiring "non-cooperative" boarding skills (in which the crew of the ship to be inspected is not cooperating) and an advanced one, aimed at acquiring the "obstructed" capability (eventuality in which the crew of the ship to be inspected hinders the boarding team) through a consolidated coordination and harmony with the Incursion Operational Group - GOI.

In this context, Nave Etna was used as a logistic base and platform that simulated a merchant ship with an "obstructed" attitude and on which the patrons of the San Marco marine brigade were able to test the techniques acquired during the program, such as high-speed navigation with the use of vehicles and pilots of the landing craft group, the use of materials and techniques for boarding units in navigation at high speed and the planning and management of events in confined spaces and related team techniques.

Boarding Team they then carried out the boarding with telescopic rods and biscuits, confronting the crew and instructors of the San Marco marine brigade, protagonists in covering the roles of hostile personnel and / or hostages.
