Partnership between Leonardo and Cisco to develop joint technological activities

Leonardo, one of the main global players in the Aerospace Defense & Security sector, and Cisco Systems, world leader in the networking and IT sectors, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the aim of strengthening mutual commercial relations and starting a structured collaboration in the civil and defense industrial fields. The carrying out of the activities within the framework of the Memorandum will develop through the joint and periodic identification, also through the establishment of dedicated working groups, of business opportunities and areas of technical cooperation to meet, in particular, the market demands in the sectors cyber security, secure networking, Internet-of-Things, digital workplace e cloud edge computing.

The agreement includes, among other things, the development of potential integrated solutions, based on the specific distinctive technological capabilities of the two players and with a view to proposing solutions suitable for meeting market needs. They will then be discussed in detail The roadmap in specific technological areas, such as quantum cryptography, green transition and security solutions for logistics and transport, thanks to the use of drones and advanced urban security systems.

The MoU also embraces the possibility of joint commercial offers, through a process of analysis of products and solutions aimed at the national and international market, so as to broaden the business opportunities and the audience of potential customers of the two players. Finally, according to the agreement, Leonardo and Cisco undertake to guarantee the satisfaction of mutual advantages on the commercial proposals to be finalized towards a series of strategic programmes, previously identified by the two companies.

To streamline the joint activity governed by the MoU, one will be established steering committee with the aim of monitoring the progress of the partnership and evaluating the overall progress of the collaboration. The steering committee will be able to establish, in turn, gods working groups specific to concretely pursue the joint business opportunities identified.
