Fincantieri: “Sheraouh” patrol boat delivered to Qatar

In the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Qatar he Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah and the Minister of Defense Lorenzo Guerini, the delivery of the patrol vessel (OPV - Offshore Patrol Vessel) took place at the Muggiano (La Spezia) plant " Sheraouh ", second unit of the class commissioned to Fincantieri by the Ministry of Defense of Qatar as part of a naval acquisition program that has a total value of almost 4 billion euros and includes, in addition to the 2 OPVs, 4 corvettes of over 100 meters and 1 LPD (Landing Platform Dock).

Present were, among others, staff major general Abdulla Bin Hassan Al Sulaiti, commander of the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces, amm. sq. Enrico Credendino, Chief of Staff of the Navy, he Khalid bin Yousef Al-Sada, Ambassador of Qatar to Italy, Alessandro Prunas, Italian Ambassador to Qatar, and, for Fincantieri, the President, General Claudio Graziano, and the CEO and general manager, Pierroberto Folgiero.

The "Sheraouh" patrol vessel, like its twin "Musherib", delivered in January 2022, was designed in accordance with the RINAMIL for Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) regulation and is a highly flexible unit with the ability to perform multiple tasks ranging from from patrolling to the role of combat ship. It has a length of about 63 meters, a width of 9,2 meters, a maximum speed of 30 knots, and can accommodate 38 crew members on board.

Last May the setting up of the LPD took place in Palermo, while in April Fincantieri delivered the “Damsah”, second in the class of 4 corvettes, all units belonging to the same program for Qatar.
