Transoceanic flight reports two small patients to Italy

Yesterday a Falcon 900 Easy aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino (RM), which started last August 29, returned after carrying out a transoceanic humanitarian flight to bring back to Italy two small compatriot patients admitted to the USA where they received particular cycles of care in highly specialized facilities.

The flight was authorized by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, through the situation hall at the top of the Air Force General Staff.

The aircraft, which departed in the morning of 29 August from Italy, after making a technical stop in Gander (Canada - USA) arrived at 01: 30 of the 30 August in San Diego (California - USA). The following day, in the afternoon, after boarding the first patient, admitted to the Osteopathic Center for Children of San Diego followed by a medical team and accompanied by his mother, he took off for Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania - USA) where , landed at 23: 40, promptly boarded the second patient, admitted to the Children's Hospital, also accompanied by a medical team and her mother, to leave for Italy.

After a technical stop in Shannon (Ireland), the aircraft landed at Ciampino to leave the first patient and then departed for Lecce where the second patient was landed. The aircraft returned to Ciampino at 14: 50.

The aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino are used for state transport and for public utility missions, such as emergency medical transport of the sick, severely traumatized and transplant organs, as well as for interventions in favor of people in any case in risk situations. This last activity, given the imminent danger of life of the transported people, imposes a level of readiness, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
