A Falcon 50 of the Air Force took off in the early afternoon from Cagliari Elmas airport carrying a child of just two days in imminent danger of life, destination the Mayer Children's Hospital in Florence.

The aircraft is expected in less than an hour at the Tuscan airport, from where together with the child's parents and the medical team on board they will continue by land to the treatment center. The aircraft and crew will instead return to the permanent base of Ciampino, site of the 31 ° Stormo, to continue the service of ready use.

A race against time, started with the request for support from the Cagliari prefecture to the Situation Room of the Air Squad Command, the Air Force's operational room which has among its tasks that of organizing and managing - in coordination with prefectures , hospitals and Presidency of the Council of Ministers - this type of transport throughout the national territory, including islands.

The last two interventions of this type go back to last night, for the transport of a serious burn injured from Bari to Naples following the great fire that occurred in a fireworks factory in Modugno (Bari) and, to follow with the same aircraft, for the urgent transfer of a 60-year-old from Campania, awaiting transplant from Naples to Bologna.
