The first request came in the evening from the prefecture of Catanzaro for the transport from Lamezia to Palermo of a 50-year-old woman awaiting transplant at the Mediterranean Institute for Transplantation and High Specialization Therapies (ISMET) in Palermo. Shortly before midnight, the Situation Room of the Rome Air Squad Command, on the recommendation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, therefore ordered the take-off of a Falcon 900 of the 31 ° Stormo di Ciampino, which after having made a stop in Lamezia to embark patient, he reached the civil airport of the Sicilian capital around two in the morning.

The same plane, after returning to Ciampino, was redecorated around four o'clock in the morning for a new transport mission, in this case on the order of the prefecture of Rome in favor of a woman, a sixty-year-old, also awaiting transplant. At the 4.40 about the aircraft arrived in Bologna, from where the woman was then transported to the Sant'Orsola Hospital.
